About this deal

The Love Letter takes you to a very different set of culture, and reading this in 2020, I could easily notice it is set in 1995. There are many small things in the book that happen, which reminded me that time has passed since, and I really enjoyed that. It has been a while since I have read something over two decades ago. I absolutely adored the characters in this book. Zoe, Marcus and Joanna being my favourites but really the whole cast was an incredible mix of personalities. What was most interesting was seeing how various characters developed through the course of the book…some for better and some for worse 🤐 Ich weiß gar nicht was ich zu diesem Buch sagen soll...

THE LOVE LETTER | Lucinda Riley

The Love Letter is a truly multi-faceted story… there is mystery, action, espionage, romance and menace… A dangerous game of cat-and-mouse through lies and love, secrets and subterfuge, deception and danger. An intriguing change of direction from one of our best-loved authors. Joanna is a journalist with a demanding job and fresh out of a failed relationship when she is assigned to cover the funeral for a famous actor. While at the funeral she meets an elderly woman who sends her a letter which begins a series of events that could absolutely ruin the Royal family. Joanna's investigating is fraught with danger as she gets closer to finding the truth. A secret that the Royal family will do anything to hide. But Joanna stumbles on something dark beneath the glamour: the mention of a letter James Harrison has left behind, the contents of which others have been desperate to conceal for over 70 years.

At the time that Rosanna Menici, a young and naïve girl, met Roberto Rossini, she had no idea that the man will forever change her life. An old diary is discovered while the estate is undergoing refurbishment after being inherited by Kit Crawford.

Her desire to learn of her true origin however leads her to England where she comes to learn of a woman pioneer who lived in Australia more than a hundred years ago. THE AUTHOR: Lucinda Riley is an Irish author of popular historical fiction and a former actress. She spent the first few years of her life in the village of Drumbeg near Belfast before moving to England. At age 14 she moved to London to a specialist drama and ballet school. She wrote her first book aged twenty four. Lucinda died in June 2021. One hundred years prior to the events, a stubborn and bravely independent Flora MacNichol swore that she will never get married. She leads a decent life in her home in the Lake District, and living next to Beatrix Potter, her idol, makes life all the better. Her acting career was interrupted by a long bout of mononucleosis. This caused her to turn to writing, and her first novel Lovers and Players was published in 1992. [3]Eight decades earlier, Izabela Bonifacio’s father hoped that his daughter would marry into aristocracy. But Izabela, vibrant and eager to travel the world, persuades her father and ends up accompanying him, along with his family, to Europe before she is married. Joanna Haslam is a young journalist, and she is assigned to cover the actor’s funeral. Many famous celebrities will be there, and she can’t miss this moment. But something else captures her attention. An old woman, that shares a secret letter Harrison left behind, which needs to keep a secret forever. I've been wanting to read Lucinda Riley for a while now after seeing my blogger friends praise her Seven Sisters series, and I am so glad that I took the plunge. Lucinda is magician with words! Along with the new charming owner of the estate, Julia looks for her grandmother in a bid to get to the bottom of a love saga that nearly destroyed Wharton Park. a b c d Stephanie Bell, How Ulster-born author Lucinda Riley, who vowed to shun Hollywood, became the toast of LA after signing huge deal to film her novels for TV, Belfast Telegraph, 14 July 2016
