About this deal

Generally speaking, the more advanced the camera technology is, the more sensitive it is to high-frequency vibrations. Although there were occasional reports of issues in earlier versions, our team began to identify the major impacts of motorcycle frequencies on phones starting from the iPhone X model and onwards. The effects of frequency in earlier versions were relatively lower compared to subsequent models. While it should be positioned with the USB-A port angled downwards – so water and filth don’t collect in it – the case itself is IP66 rated (dust-tight and resistant to powerful jets of water), and the port is IPX8 (not dust resistant as it’s open, but fully resistant to immersion in water). There’s no USB cable supplied, though you’ll almost certainly have one to suit your phone already.

The standard Wireless Charging Head is for indoor use such as in your car or desk. Q: Will it drain my battery if I leave my bike parked? Mous has also developed a range of motorcycle mounts to suit its cases, though options are rather limited for now, and prices seem to be on the high side. If you wire it via a SAE connector directly into your battery, the device will draw a very slight current when not in use (unless using our 12V to USB Smart Adaptor in Auto mode of course, in which case the device will shut off when the battery drops to 12.5V) The smartphone is changing the world and more and more everyday tasks require one. As a result, having a smartphone close at hand is becoming a necessity versus a “nice to have.” Motorcycle riders are no exception, and they are often looking for secure ways of mounting their phones to their bikes. Purely anecdotally, I have been told by a dealer that they had some instances of iPhones (I don’t know which models) experiencing issues while using a dampener, but I haven’t been able to verify them and there are a huge number of people using them without any problems. What's the difference between Weatherproof Wireless Charging head and the standard Wireless Charging Head? A: The charging head fits all our motorbike mounts and mounts which feature our index connecting feature such as the Out Front Mount Pro.

Is it the bike’s engine vibration that’s causing the issue when it happens, or vibration from the road? Both versions of the mount come with two sets of expanding spacers, but the Pro’s are a different design with a slightly larger range of 12.4mm to 25.4mm. For either to work, the tube must be smooth internally with a minimum depth of 45mm – if there’s any lip inside it won’t fit. A: In some cases, the wireless charging head may not activate when your ignition is started when plugged into a 3rd party USB charger. This may be resolved by using our 12 Volt Charger or simply reconnecting your USB plug to your adaptor. Unfortunately, the weather during the testing period was Florida sunny all the time. As such, I could not test how the wireless charger performs in the rain. However, the phone always charged to 100% even when multiple apps were running, including Google Maps. An average motorcycle battery this will take about 1 month to drain at 12mA or 2 months at 6mA. We recommend disconnecting the charger from the battery if your bike is parked and not started for prolonged periods. There are many different types of solutions, including solid mounts, X-mounts, X-mounts with rubber bands, spring release claw-like mounts, etc. However, most of them are similar. They cradle and surround the phone with varying degrees of retention. This is an issue with the Google phone, rather than the case, and it does seem to need a lot of power to wirelessly charge effectively.

At the time I didn’t notice an on/off button just underneath the lip of the wireless head. Pressing this will shut the unit off and make sure it can’t drain your bike battery. However, you must remember to press this again when you next want to use the charger head. A: We sure do! This is our Waterproof 12V to USB Smart Adaptor, and it's designed specifically to bridge the gap between your motorcycle's battery and the Weatherproof Wireless Charging Head. It features an Auto function to keep the device off until the battery voltage rises above 13.5V and to turn off when input voltage drops below 12.5V. Perfect for a vehicle such as a motorcycle or ATV to avoid battery drain. What's the difference between Weatherproof Wireless Charing head and the standard Wireless Charging Head? For me the time saving involved with wireless charging is a real plus. It might just be a few seconds here and there, but I stop frequently to take photos on my phone and not having to unplug/plug in a cable every time is a bonus. The extension arm pivots at both ends, and rotates where it meets the base, so combined with the rotation in the head you can set this in a surprisingly wide range of positions. On the VFR, space is very tight when the bars are turned due to the screen, but I was still able to get the phone to fit (if only vertically).

What I can tell you is that I’ve had no problems over many thousands of miles with a Samsung Galaxy S21 and a Google Pixel 7 Pro fitted to a BMW R1250GS using a dampener. How well the charging head works—Does the charging head keep the phone fully charged, and does it charge correctly in the rain? These issues seem to be predominantly with iPhones, and when I spoke to SP Connect, they confirmed that the vast majority of problems they’d come across were with Apple devices, and of these they were mainly the iPhone X, 11 and 12 series, but not the 12 Pro Max, which has Sensor-Shift OIS. They told me that issues with the iPhone 13 are very rare, with none reported on the 14, both of which use Sensor-Shift. They also pointed out that unlike on Apple devices, the OIS on Samsung is deactivated when the camera’s not being used. Both mounts feature in-built magnets for perfect alignment with the charging head and wireless charging pad every time. With Wireless charging, you can keep your phone always in the green and even charge your Apple MAG accessories such as AirPods PRO simultaneously with the Dual Desktop Wireless Charger. So convenient! When I first started using the system, getting the phone onto the adapter was a bit fidgety. But once you get the hang of it, it is literally a two or three-second operation. You can later release the phone from the adapter and wireless charging mount by pushing down on the arm(s) underneath the phone. After that, removal is a piece of cake.A: Fast Wireless charging is slower than an equivalent wired charger of the same wattage. This is because wireless charging is only 70-80% efficient meaning 20-30% of the power is lost during the wireless transmission process. We have an in-depth support article around expected wireless charging speeds which can be found here. I never tested the charger from 0 percent phone charge, but it took less than an hour to charge my Samsung S10+ from 65 to 100 percent.
