About this deal

Your pumping pattern is a very individual combination of suction strength (vacuum) and suction frequency (cycle) with different durations. Once you have found the ideal settings that make your milk flow best, you can save them by pressing the Memory Plus button. This function saves the entire pumping history and automatically recalls it the next time pumping takes place. At the end of each pumping interval, the breast pump will beep, & the 10-minute pause period begins. At the end of the pause the breast pump beeps again, you then need to activate the Power Pumping again by pressing the power pumping button to continue the programme. What is power pumping?– it is based on a baby cluster feeding at the breast, this is when a baby has lots of feeds spaced closely together. Power Pumping mimics this pattern, which helps to increase the milk supply. Power Pumping may also help trigger more letdowns. The automatic Power Pumping of the Alyssa is a predefined one-hour interval pumping consisting of three pumping phases and two pause phases. While the duration of the pumping and pausing phases is predefined, you can adjust the vacuum and cycle settings to your personal needs at any time. Ardo makes great products with Moms in mind! This pump is small (about the same size as a kiinde twist pouch) and has a rechargeable battery that lasts a long time. I think I only charge it once or twice a week with 2 to 3 pump sessions a day. The battery makes it perfect for pumping at work or home. The charger uses a standard usb c connection and wall adaper with a reasonable length of cable. The pump also has a convenient cover for the charging port.

First off, this pump is a complete game changer! It’s innovative technology and features are what makes it stand out. What’s even more exciting and amazing is how this pump has a power pumping feature like no other! If you are new or seasoned in your breastfeeding journey, Ardo’s Alyssa has everything you need, especially if you find yourself in a cluster feeding period. As Mommy of five previous and new exclusively breastfed munchkins, I have finally found a pump that doesn’t leave me feeling like ran a marathon! This is absolutely the best pump I’ve ever used. Within just two days, I noticed a huge increase in the amount I was able to pump (I was six weeks postpartum and was pumping about 3 ounces maximum, but this went up to seven ounces!) This was without even using the power pumping feature, which I tried out to boost my evening milk supply. My baby was fussy and hungry every hour in the evenings for a while making me think my milk supply was low – I used the power pumping feature for three nights at 6pm and noticed a huge difference even between the three days. It has been two weeks and my supply is still plentiful at night! there’s a slight learning curve if you’ve never used an Ardo pump, but the manual and tips are super helpful! Just remember that you need to press and hold over the buttons to turn them on/off However, it is my opinion that to exclusively pump you need a powerful motor with the suction power of over 300mmHg. the flange sizing is interesting. This one comes with 22mm inserts for 26mm flanges. Most other pumps come with size 24mm standard they have a guide for you to find the right sizeWe used a noise meter in our lab tests to measure the volume for each breast pump set at the highest setting and pressed against the skin. While our mom testers were split right down the middle, reporting that the breast pump was either very quiet or somewhat loud, the Ardo Calypso Double Plus Breastpump is actually one of the quietest pumps we've tested (and we've tested most available in Canada). All but one parent tester reported that they were able to comfortably pump in the same room as a sleeping baby or partner without waking them up.

How could I forget about sound! It is sooo quiet. I pump in a restroom (by choice) at work and the pump is hardly discernable over the fan. Make sure it’s hands-free! I am never “just” pumping. Whether it’s meal prep, working, getting ready for an evening out, tidying etc etc, simply being able to move around whilst pumping is in my opinion non-negotiable if you want pumping to become a part of your daily routine rather than it commanding your hours. This in no way means you need 300mmHg of suction power. It just means you have the ability to use higher levels of suction if it turns out you respond better to that. The fact that the Alyssa is less than this indicates to me this could be why it did not drain me effectively. That’s not to say I love everything about this pump. It’s a little bit noisy, the buttons can be either really sensitive or don’t work at times, and there’s no way to manually program the pump in the app – you have to run an actual pumping session and then save it to the memory. That means there are always a few annoying seconds at the beginning of my programmed settings where I was adjusting the pump, instead of it doing exactly what I want every time. This is admittedly a nice-to-have rather than must have but the Ardo Alyssa is the first breast-pump in the world with automatic power pumping which imitates the natural breastfeeding pattern of “cluster-feeding” which leads to an increase in milk production.

Stress-free power pumping

In contrast, there are some people who need to crank their Spectra pumps up to Level 12 vacuum (the highest setting) and some people who respond very well to that long pull of the Baby Buddha pump. I had no idea what to look for when first choosing my pump but 2 kids in…here are my personal pump must-haves! My Ardo Alyssa pump has all of these & has worked wonders with both my supply and experience of pumping 2nd time around. Hope these help! If you aren’t looking into power pumping you can simply switch to your regular pumping preference, with eight different vaccum and cycle levels!

You can change the cycle and vacuum for stimulation and expression modes. Changing the vacuum changes the strength of the suction/pull. Changing the cycle alters the frequency of the pulls from the pump. In stimulation mode, the cycles range from 72-107 cycles per minute and in expression 20-50 cycles per minute. I genuinely wish it could work better for me because the MyArdo app is so fantastic, user friendly and the Alyssa does have so many amazing features. I think the think I really appreciate is that it seems like it was made with moms in mind using new technology. It’s a personal NICU hospital grade pump that’s actually AFFORDABLE. This is going to be a huge benefit to pumping moms with premature & NICU babies to establish their milk supply and have their pump available at all times.

Compact & light. My Ardo breastpump has been to the beach, it’s been to restaurants, planes, car journeys, you name it. You need to have something that is effective but can fit in your handbag / nappy bag easily. I’ve pumped approx 2000 times between Alfie & Arlo. Alf for 5 months, Arlo for 3 (and counting)! It doesn’t make me an expert but it has given me a good idea about what works, what doesn’t and how to make pumping a little less all-consuming! This is because it can be an indicator it has a lengthy motor life and the capacity to drain your breasts effectively, which is essential for exclusive pumping. If you don’t know what suction levels are comfortable for you, a pump over 300mmHg with a variety of settings and options can give you the flexibility of finding out what vacuum and cycles you respond best to. The Alyssa's compact size and USB rechargeable integrated battery allow for maximum mobility, meaning the breastpump can be used anywhere, at any time. Also, on a side note, the clear aesthetic makes it so satisfying to watch your milk flow into the bottles. I learned so much more about my let-downs (plural!) during pumping than I knew before. I would highly recommend this pump.

If you’d like to save a new Memory Plus session, press the ‘save’ icon, which looks like a floppy disc/the symbol on Microsoft Word. I agree that you should only put vacuum up to what’s comfortable for you. And stronger settings and certain powerful pumps will not be suitable for everyone. What is needed for exclusive pumping? Please note in regard to suction power/mmHg: In the US, the FDA apparently makes many pump companies to list their mmHg as less than 300 for some reason. For example, the Spectra S1 and S2 are listed as 270mmHg, whereas in Australia they are listed as 320mmHg. This is something to be aware of. I would also say be wary of a pump that does not openly advertise the mmHg.* Ardo Alyssa: The bottom line Double or Single Pumping?– when Power Pumping if possible it is better to double pump, it may also help to use a special pumping bra or you can make yourself with an old bra.
