About this deal

But there are some issues with the noise, not-so-responsive steering, filtration, and handheld usability. However, the small dust canister and short battery life cloud what is otherwise a superb cordless vacuum cleaner.

It only has a traditional brush roll, and while Miele says it’s “multi-floor,” I wouldn’t recommend it on hard floors. Relocating the dustbin towards the handle removes a significant roadblock enabling it to go further. In stick mode the power unit sits closer to the handle, while in upright mode it's closer to the floorhead. Moving back to carpet and the Miele performed much better, managing to lift 85% of the Cheerio spillage in a single pass – which can be ascribed to the fact that it detects different floor types and adjusts accordingly. The brush roll is on the slim side with stiff bristles, which is why it didn’t do well with longer hair strands (more on that later). While some cordless vacuums will comfortably suck up dust from a flat hard surface, floorboards with deep crevices often prove a lot more challenging.

Another experiment I did was a crevice pick-up test, where I scattered debris on this quarter-inch crevice. We'd advise having the motor and canister near the brush-head when in stick-mode, as this was best for cleaning floors. Excellent carpet cleaning performance: The Triflex HX1 is built to clean this surface well thanks to the wide nozzle and stiff bristles. Being a Miele brand, there won’t’ be an issue with parts availability, at least for stuff like the filter or battery.Cleaning carpet is where the Miele Triflex HX1 excels with its above-average airflow and brush roll design. And in many instances it wasn't necessary to go back over spots we'd just vacuumed ; a single pass was sufficient to clear the mess. Miele claims that the TriflexHX2Pro offers up to 120 minutes of continuous power – achieved using both batteries. Our preference was to switch between Eco and Max power settings in our household, which saw the battery last around 19 minutes. The rotating beater (or brush bar) links with intelligent detection of floor type to reduce the rotational speed on hard floors.

This score shows how well each cordless vacuum cleaner sucks up fine dust from hard flat floors such as laminate. When he’s not writing reviews, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, traveling and tasting different cuisines. this vacuum is much lighter than its predecessor, the Triflex HX1, and is easy to manoeuvre around the house. However, don’t expect third-party manufacturers to see Triflex components since it isn’t as popular as a Dyson. This test is particularly important for serious allergy sufferers who want to remove all of the fine dust and allergens they can from their home. One issue with the Miele Triflex is the high noise levels, particularly with the main nozzle attached. The Miele Triflex is an excellent cheaper alternative for cleaning carpet IF you opt for the base variant, which is the best, in my opinion. Switching between these various modes is simple, with conversion simply a matter of repositioning the main power unit (home to the motor, rechargeable battery and dust box). This score shows how well each cordless vacuum cleaner picks up dust from in between the crevices that you find between traditional floorboards.
