About this deal

Many dating apps and sites give users tests to determine compatibility, and there are multiple genetic ancestry and profiling tools currently on the market. This is only my fourth book by this author-duo (I say only because a lot of people have read a lot more of their books) and so far this is my favorite for what it's worth. Resisting the urge to cover her own less-than-impressive assets, Jess offered a small, embarrassed wave. You cannot spend that much time SHOWING me something and then try and abruptly TELL me the opposite.

After all, her father was never around, her hard-partying mother disappeared when she was six, and her ex decided he wasn’t “father material” before her daughter was even born. The Soulmate Equation has it all: a cheer-worthy couple, tons of chemistry, an adorable and funny supporting cast, and the most interesting premise.

The idea of different people expressing themselves through distinct expressions of love has become a popular topic when discussing modern relationships.

Both Jess and River are cautious and guarded when it comes to relationships, but as scientists, they're optimistic about what data can prove — this results in an interesting dynamic and irresistible pull between them as they navigate their attraction. The "banter" between the MC and best friend was making me cringe because it was that awkwardly written. She walked Juno to school just down the street from their apartment complex while Fizzy grabbed the best table—in the back, away from the glare of the window but near the outlet that hadn’t yet gone wobbly. The sexy and smart banters, increasing sexual tension, smoky hot intimacy between two people who cannot stand each other but also want to rip each other’s clothes is my favorite romcom formula. The initial enemies to lovers vibes switch over to something much sweeter, and I loved the build in intimacy. When we first meet Jess in Chapter 1, what do we learn about her as a character through her moment of reflection in the restroom? Overall there's nothing really to dislike about this book, it's a solidly written story by two creative authors whose books I enjoy reading. This novel can check off more than one 2021 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge prompt; just pick the one that fits best for you.

And also because I fairly recently read The One by John Marrs, it is definitely not the same book at all but it just seemed too similar of a concept. There is a steamy scene or two and some geek speak on genetics and data, but that fit with the characters. Christina Lauren penned great characters who explored this idea of matchmaking in a way that was sweet, romantic, and endearing.

Once, she’d presented an entire fiscal year’s worth of data to a client with four of Juno’s sparkly butterfly barrettes still clipped to the front of her blazer. I don’t read a lot of romances except for romantic suspense and paranormal romance, but I connected with this one. All in all, this is a great palate cleanser after some heavier reads, and I do recommend it for romance lovers and especially those who believe that their soulmate is out there if they just knew how to find them. Jess lives right next to her grandparents, who raised her and who help raise Jess’s seven-year-old daughter Juno. As always with Christina Lauren’s fizzy romances, the characters are goodhearted and quirky (this time with a perfect dose of nerdy fun!

Some of the dialogue with Fizz appeared a little forced, and I would have skimmed these sections on a second read through.I know I should mention how much I enjoyed The Soulmate Equation but I think I should say instead of how much I loved Fizzy and Juno in this one. cute, fast, charming, funny, predictable - everything needed for an easy, enjoyable read and everything i have come to love about CLs stories. I'd suspect most people comment on your eyes,' he said quietly, running a fingertip across her collarbone.
