About this deal

Most UWA zooms were far pricier before those two and have been far pricier since, even 3rd party stuff, the only other exception is the EF-M one.

With the quick bursts that the fighters move with, capturing their kicks and punches require shutter speeds of at least 1/500 but preferrably 1/1000. The other noticeable difference with the Sigma is that there is no aperture ring like you come to expect from Fujifilm XF lenses, which is something I very much like about them.I know Fujifilm are coming out with an updated version at some stage, that will hopefully fix this, but I think it has come way too late.

Chris's editorial work includes not only editing and scheduling articles but also writing them himself. To make focusing fast and smooth, the lens features a stepping motor that goes about its business quickly and quietly. If you therefore want a prime lens at this focal length, then for now at least, Sigma is the only route available. This year, plenty of amazing cameras, lenses, accessories and other products came through our doors. If I upped the contrast and/or clarity, vibrancy and saturation, it would improve things, but the images from this lens would always stand out as being different, compared to the other photos I took on the same day with other lenses.

But - jump to FF and now discontinued mounts (EF / F) and there are some older but still very good UWA lenses that won't break the bank. Personally, I prefer the aperture ring, but you very quickly get used to going back to the command dial, so this is no biggie considering the performance you get from the lens. You could argue that Canon’s existing range of EF and EF-S lenses for SLRs can be mounted on EOS M bodies but adding a mount adaptor as well as using a lens that’s bigger and heavier than it needs to be is rather missing the point of a ‘compact system camera’.There’s no optical stabilisation, but many of the bodies it’ll be mounted on feature body-based stabilisation of their own. When using a wide aperture to gain a tight depth of field, the bokeh, or quality of defocused areas, can be equally important. DC DN churns out sharp pictures, has a wide aperture and is a bargain compared to the Fujifilm XF56mm. After my findings, I’ve added the feedback on this very lens, of the photographer who bought it off me. R WR comparison, below is a table to compare the two to make a better-informed choice about which lens is suitable for you, should you be considering the Fujifilm lens.
